Spirit is pleased to announce our 2014 Volunteer Scholarship
winner, Danielle S. of suburban Chicago. Danielle is currently studying Global
Service, Theology, Philanthropic Leadership, and Spanish at Valparaiso
University. Throughout high school and college, she has been involved in
many community service organizations to positively impact those around her. For
her scholarship program, she has selected a volunteer project at a senior
center in Quito, Ecuador, where she can serve elderly local residents by
providing food and companionship. She describes her upcoming trip by
explaining, “I see this scholarship as a window of opportunity…[to impact] the
world that lies outside of my familiar community.” We look forward to
hearing from her as she serves the local community and lives with a host family
in Quito. Danielle will be blogging about
her experiences on this page beginning late July.

the video on our International

announcement.
